Family Law. Mother took my daughter?

I need some information bout my custody order dealing with my daughter. Her mother moved to fort worth tx bout 6 months ago (with her boyfriend/now husband i guess) and i still live in el paso tx where the court order took place. There was no geographical restriction placed or anything but I have been told by many people that in order for her to move she has to go through the courts get it amended and everything. set up different visitation rights since she is still under 3. I mean the only thing i received was a text message from her giving me the address of where they would be staying. i got it less then 24 hrs before they left. Im not sure how the law works but to me that doesnt sound very legal if thats the case. please someone with any kind of helpful information please comment.
