How do I get rid of spectacles?

I got my glasses when I was in 6 grade..from then on it has increased from 1.5D to 3.5D..what are the procedures to get your eyesight to perfect vision..they say that they replace the lens with a plastic one and you wont have to wear opticals again!is this true and are their any drawbacks..can you name any other procedures(i know laser surgery)..
