Why americans are so religious compared to europeans?

I have noticed that americans talk too much about religion. I live in germany and i can tell that almost all of them are christian by name, they are practically atheists, same is the case with most of europe. But why americans are so obsessed with their christian religon despite technologically and scientifically so advance.
